Soroptimist Village
Fire Repairs & Remodel

On the morning of Tuesday, September 25th, 2018, a fire stemming from a natural gas leak broke out at Building E of the 40+ unit Soroptimist Village senior housing facility in Norwalk, injuring 3 residents and destroying 4 of the 5 units while leaving the 5th unit uninhabitable. This was a blow to the Norwalk community who had come to rely on Soroptimist Village as a pillar of affordable housing, specifically designed and managed to help its resident maintain their independence.

On September 9th of 2022, Soroptimist Village came into an agreement with Norwalk based Ambros Construction Inc. to rebuild Building E. In October of 2022, permits were signed and Ambros Construction broke ground. The remodel includes upgraded power, plumbing, data, and sewage, new framing, new roof, new structural reinforcements, new HVAC, new alarm, new lighting and water fixtures, new flooring, new tile bathrooms with enclosed walk in ADA accessible shower, new millwork,  new cabinets/vanity/countertops, new stucco, new doors & windows, new drywall , new paint, new appliances, and new walkways around Building E and to the Community Center.
